Featuring Mike and Sara Hedge with Hedge Family Farm in Happy Valley
Come learn about this sweet couple and their farm. Mike is a notable filmmaker and photographer from Los Angeles. He has worked world wide on various projects that includes sci-fi short films, biographical studies, and documentaries on permaculture and eco-villages. He produced his first film in 2014: "As The Dust Settles." Mike is an Eagle Scout and one of the hardest working people one will ever meet. His wife, Sara, is from Miami, where she went to art school after high school. She spent 4 years in the Florida Keys where she was a dive shop technician and worked on reef charter boats. She has always looked for a career that would weave her love for art and biology into one. When she met Mike in 2018, they found they both had a passion for quality food, and thus began their journey into farming. The farm is a Certified Naturally Grown farm, which means that through a peer-reviewed community of like-minded farmers, they are inspected to follow an organic grow model. No pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or GMSs are used. They are proud to say that none of their produce has ever been sprayed with chemicals. They deal with pests in an ecological approach, using predatory insects, owl boxes, cover crops, pollinator habitats, and trap crops.
Come learn about their journey into farming, the crops they grow, their love of the land, and how to access their produce. There's nothing like fresh vegetables!
